My research is to make a fuel efficient propulsion method for use in water. My lab applies it to submarines but it could be applied to big boats too. There are thousands of boats in the world, from small personal boats to massive cargo ships, which could all use my propulsion method and save the ocean from a massive amount of pollution.

I hope one day my research can better society by replacing all the harmful saturated and hydrogenated fats in foods with functional healthy alternatives. I know this has already been done in some foods, but i mean in everything to try bring the world out of its obesity crisis we have now.

Well I would hope that one day my research would form the basis of a new treatment of Malaria and would stop the suffering of the 225 million people a year who catch Malaria and prevent the deaths of those who currently die from it (in 2010, 2.23% of all the deaths in the world were due to Malaria and most of those death would have been of children).

Thinking about the potential benefits of my work gives me extra drive and makes me put in extra hours.
