I like the investigation involved. Today I listened to another scientist talk about an illness in calves and he had to figure out wat was wrong. He needed to use science to figure this out…

I like that it works, and it makes sense. There is no magic. It all makes sense. And if something seems magical then it just means we don’t understand something yet.

Imagine if you went back 200 years in time and showed people an ipod, or a TV and remote control, or a laser. They would think you were a magician!! If you went back a bit further they might even think you were a witch/warlock and kill you out of fear! But ipods and lasers are not magical. People from 200 years ago would think so but it is just because a lot of stuff happened in the last 200 years that they didn’t understand yet. So, if we find things today and we don’t understand them it is fun to try and figure it out as we know that SCIENCE ALWAYS WORKS!

That’s the other thing I like – the investigation part! It is nice to do some detective work 🙂

Science is really fulfilling, it’s a really great feeling when you solve a problem or make a discovery, even a little one! I also really like the “thinking” side of science – when I’m walking home or sitting on a train with nothing to do, thinking about the research I’m doing or the next experiment I want to try is a really good way to pass the time.

I like working things out and solving problems. It’s very satisfying solving problems – these are the little discoveries we make everyday. Or course getting big results is amazing, but in my line of work that happens fairly infrequently.
