There are a few treatments currently available for Malaria, the one that is used depends on which specific species of parasite is causing the Malaria and whether the disease was contracted in an area where the malarial parasites are resistant to certain drugs. The drug treatments available are the ones that have been available for years and years and this is why there is a lot of research into new treatments for Malaria as the parasites are increasingly resistant to the drugs.

The best treatment is in fact prevention. You should do your best not to get Malaria and the best way of doing that is to do everything you can to avoid getting bitten by mosquitos in countries that you find Malaria. If you are traveling to those counties you should also take anti-malarial tablets.

Unfortuantely this kind of prevention doesn’t help everyone (hence the search for new treatments) and it doesn’t help the people living in the countries that you can catch Malaria.
