I answered this question already, here: http://ias.im/44.625 where I said how Galileo was my favourite scientist, and how much I admired him.
From current scientists there are also many I admire. I have to say I admire Andrew Lyne. He is a professor of astronomy in Manchester and he thought me so much during my time in Jodrell Bank. I really learnt a lot from him. If I can be as good a scientist as him in my career I will be very happy.

Leonardo da Vinci. He was an amazing artist, biologist and engineer, along with lots of other things! A lot of his inventions look really silly these days but 500 years ago these things were unbelievably amazing.
