I think it depends on a few things!

Milk contains calcium which is good for your bones, especially if you’re still growing, plus other good vitamins and minerals. However, humans aren’t very good at digesting milk which can make it bad for your stomach (though some people are better than others) plus, unless it’s skimmed milk, it can contain a lot of fat.

The reason people say a glass of wine is good for your is because it’s believed the alcohol can help thin your blood and reduce the risk of heart problems. However, there are lots and lots of negative health issues with alcohol, especially in young people.

So, I would say that low fat (skimmed) milk is probably better than wine for most people, especially if you’re under 25 years old or if you’ve broken a bone!

Ryan’s given you a pretty good answer to this one.

Milk (if you can digest it) is pretty good for you: http://www.milk.co.uk/page.aspx?intPageID=73
And wine also has some health benefits: http://www.healthdiaries.com/eatthis/10-health-benefits-of-red-wine.html

But the calcium you get from milk is really, really important while your skeleton is still growing (until your late teens, early 20’s). And it seems to be any benefit you would get from wine is if you are much older.

I don’t think so. Wine has some beneficial effects but milk is way more healthy! That’s why I drink a glass of milk every day, not wine! Actually especially when you are in school, and still growing then milk is very good for you (and alcohol is not really very helpful when you’re growing). As Ryan said, wine is not going to strengthen your bones very much.
